MS Gundam Seed Heroines 5 Part 2

Lunamaria Hawke (Part 1)

A look at the second figurine from MS Gundam Seed Heroines 5 gashapon set after opening the review with Cagalli last month. ^^

This is Lunamaria Hawke, the character from "MS Gundam SEED Destiny" who I believe has the second highest occurrence in terms of gashapon figurines in my collection so far, after Lacus Clyne. ^^

The package containing parts for Lunamaria.

A little bit of assembly is required, as the figurine is being separated into a few parts.

Unlike Cagalli, Lunamaria can stand very well without the support of her display base.

The display base includes a small clear part that grips on to the figurine's heel.

More images of this gashapon figurine: ^^

Closeups on the details:

The head can be turned to the sides to adjust Lunamaria's viewpoints for a little bit of change in angle of display.

Like the expression of Lunamaria on this figurine, I suppose the overall design is pretty standard, which isn't exactly a bad thing. ^^ It's Lunamaria in her standard ZAFT military suit with a standard standing pose. ^^ Unlike Cagalli who is seldom seen in her full military attire, I reviewed a couple of Lunamaria gashapons depicted in this ZAFT suit in the past, so the costume design isn't new to me, and her standing pose isn't exactly special as well. Not including the option parts, "Standard" would be just about right to sum up my opinion about this figurine I suppose. ^^

There are two minor flaws that I would like to point out about this figurine though, and interestingly, they are somewhat similar to the minor nitpicks I have with Cagalli. ^^ Firstly, as you can see in the images above, Lunamaria has a very strange backward leaning pose, which makes her look like she's trying to strike an elegant pose while dodging something tosed at her from the side. XD Instead of blaming it on the initial design, I believe it has more to do with her deformed legs after staying inside the crammed package for too long. ^^; She can stand properly without the base though, which is oddly the opposite when compared to Cagalli. The Orb princess can't stand properly without the support of her display base. For both figurines, heating up their leg parts and then bending them forward for a slight degree will solve the problem I believe.

Secondly, just like Cagalli, Lunamaria also has a problem with her fringe in my opinion. ^^; The sculpture of the hair flow is very well done, but her fringe seems so long they are blocking her view. XD As a matter of fact, the fringe is so long the hair seems to be poking into her eyes, which is a terribly uncomfortable sight to imagine. ^^; Unlike the standing pose mentioned above, this is all about the design of the figurine, as the option hair part also features equally long fringe. The hair flow is altered but the length is kept to be about the same. ^^

Perhaps this pose shows Lunamaria standing in front of a mirror where she says, "I should go for a haircut now." XD

With Cagalli from the same gashapon series:

A look at the option parts included for Lunamaria in the next posting. ^^
