BB Senshi Sangokuden Kochu Gundam Part 4

Please wear more gold

Continuing the work on BB Senshi Sangokuden Kochu Gundam after the previous posting, with painting and detailing of smaller parts being the focus this time. ^^

Detailing of the character name molded beneath the heels.
Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) is used to paint all the tigher corners and slits very easily.

(Left) To truly reflect the color scheme of the kit, Gundam Marker Mecha Gray, not gray is used to paint the characters forming Kochu Gundam's name on the soles.
(Right) Normal panel liner is used to fill up some of the sunken spots to cover up excess gray paint.

The tiny sunken spots around the feet should be painted silver, according to the box art.

However, I opt for golden dots rather than silver ones, so the highlighted parts are painted using Gundam Marker Gold. ^^

The ankle and elbow joints are going to be painted mecha gray.

So is the neck joint separated between two body parts.

All the parts are painted using Gundam Marker Mecha Gray.

(Left) The two protruding stripes on the ankle guards look bland if left unpainted, even though they are shown to be so on the box art.
(Right) The much smaller sunken dots on both sides of the ankle guards can be connected to the larger ones on the feet which were painted gold earlier on.

(Left) The two protruding stripes are painted using Gundam Marker Gold, and then panel lined when the paint has dried.
(Right) The round dots are painted gold as well, but with normal pen instead. Their size makes the paint effect rather hard to see. ^^;

Panel lining applied to the arm parts as well.

Test fitting the painted parts to see how the feet would turn out when assembled.

Simple panel lining for the shoulder and hand parts.

The chest on the body part, plus the single vent and armor frame on the chest plated are painted using Gaia Metallic Color No. 122 Star Bright Gold.
The former is optional actually, since the plain form of Kochu Gundam isn't shown anywhere in the kit. ^^

The abdomen areas on the two parts are painted using Gaia Color No. 003 Bright Red Gloss.

With excess gold and red paint scratched away using a knife, and then the entire part painted, the body part's work is done. ^^

Same refinement repeated for the chest plate, but the details on the areas painted with gold are panel lined using Gundam Marker GM03 for Panel Lining Super Fine (Brown) instead.

Test fitting the painted parts to see how the armored body unit would turn out when assembled. ^^

The legs are exceptionally "empty". The blandness is going to be even more obvious when compared to the heavily painted and detailed feet.

The side vents are painted using Gaia Metallic Color No. 122 Star Bright Gold.

Excess gold paint around the vents is scratched away using a knife to complete the overall work.
The golden vents are optional paint work I put in to draw connection between Kochu Gundam and Gundam Mk-II, which feature yellow vents for its legs. ^^

Just simple panel lining for the rest of the legs to highlight their shape.

The narrow sunken slits on the handle of Eishinkyuu (鋭真弓) is painted black by "flooding" the areas with Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black). It's the easiest way to "escape" dealing with the issue of excess gold paint inside the part after the paint work in Part 2. XD

The sharp tip in front of the handle is painted silver using Pilot Super Color Silver Extra Fine, and just for a little bit of extra details, the line in the middle of the handle has also been painted silver, but using a normal pen instead. ^^

This part of the work on Kochu Gundam can be classified as dealing with "miscellaneous" details I guess, since there are many parts involved, with varying details to be treated. ^^

Just a couple more parts to go before the entire work is complete. ^^
