Finishing up the review series on HCM-Pro 00 Gundam and O Raiser with another round of action poses. ^^
I have rather mixed feeling about these two HCM-Pro figures. Some parts of it are extremely well done, however, there are flaws, serious ones that I thought could have been dealt with on the design table.
As with all my other HCM-Pro figures, the level of details on 00 Gundam is very good. The one of a kind golden inner frame for the body is really good in this small 1/200 scale. I would imagine how awkward it would look on the Perfect Grade plamo kit version, which I'm quite certain why they completely omitted. ^^; The articulation, which is a win all the way as compared to the HG 1/144 scale plamo kit version is definitely the most important element for this Gundam figure. The number of movable parts and joints is just incredible.
When O Raiser comes onto the stage, quite a couple of weaknesses are immediately exposed. The lack of movable parts for O Raiser itself and weak hinge joints on the GN Drive to handle the wing binders are the 2 most fatal flaws in my opinion. While 00 Gundam seems like a really good figure to get, O Raiser seems to be hitting the low point with far less attraction points as compared to the Gundam. I understand that most people would treat O Raiser as a mere add-on set for 00 Gundam, but I believe it can be designed to do better than that.
I can only speculate on the reasons why those problems weren't treated before the release, especially now when the HCM-Pro series has been put into hibernation. ^^; But as with all speculations and rumors, they mean nothing really. However, it's still quite a shame that amidst all the goodness of the design that was implemented onto the figure in such a small scale, some fundamental problems were overlooked, resulting in a somewhat flawed enjoyment of this Gundam figure.
