Despite grouping them into this particular posting, a lot of the work here, at least at the beginning would seem very similar to that in Part 4. ^^



The rear side of the calf and side skirt armors are painted black to emulate depth in those areas.

HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Part 4

Continue to hide some of the whiteness
Continuing with the work on HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos after Part 3. ^^


With excessive panel liner solution on the arm parts rubbed away using cotton swab soaked with thinner, and with additional line details added the usual way. ^^


Much like the thigh armor parts in Part 3, the sunken area behind the elbow area on the forearm armor parts is painted black to give the spot a sense of depth.

Extra gray, extra gunmetal
Continuing with the work on HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos after Part 2. ^^

As mentioned in that previous posting, dark gray for the mechanical areas on various parts is the main color to be painted this time. ^^


Plenty of parts to be painted, with a couple more not shown here too. ^^;
As usual, the targeted parts are detailed using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) before the paint work.

Guessing your way in completing the part-swapping
Even though the figure came packaged as Kamen Rider Black RX and it would be more convenient to review that form first after the introduction in Part 1, I prefer to start with Black instead since RX is the upgraded form of the former.

Following that show design is not necessary at all when playing with the set, but I'm going to follow the aforementioned sequence anyway. ^^ So, right out of the gate, the part-swapping gimmick, one of the main attractions of this S.I.C. set is going to be shown. ^^



Kamen Rider Black RX and the entire S.I.C. set's accessories and option parts.
Then again, the first order of business is actually to equip the antennae to the respective heads of Kamen Rider Black RX and Black. ^^

HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Part 1

New Gunpla from a new TV series to be reviewed with a slightly new method
Cutting into the current review of S.I.C. Vol. 16 Kamen Rider Black RX & Kamen Rider Black to feature the work on a brand new Gunpla I got recently. ^^


This is High Grade 1/144 scale Gundam Barbatos from "MS Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" that is currently airing in Japan. In terms of my reviews, this kit is definitely the fastest to be featured from the series it originates from. ^^ Given that I usually review a particular collectible 20 years after getting it (XD), this HG kit is a very unique case for my blog. ^^

And since it's a very special experience for me, I will put in something new to the review to make it (hopefully) more interesting. ^^

Discounting the Kiwami Damashii series, this is the first S.I.C. review on my blog this year, since Vol. 42 Kamen Rider Den-O Sword Form & Momotaros Imagin reviewed in August last year. ^^


By the look of things, this could well be the only S.I.C. review on my blog for this year. ^^;

Capsule Q Fraulein Yotsuba & Monochrome Animals Part 2

Returning to the fun Capsule Q Fraulein Yotsuba & Monochrome Animals gashopon set to look at the second type, after starting the review series with Holstein last last month. ^^

The monochrome animal Yotsuba is visiting this time is a dalmatian. ^^

Good experience despite lack of basic facilities
Backtracking on my trip to Pontianak, Indonesia last week. ^^;

Prior to the trip, my biggest concern was the haze condition that was still suffocating the region, and Kalimantan along with Sarawak, the rest of Malaysia and Singapore were among the countries worst hit during that time. Surprisingly, but pleasantly so for certain, there were afternoon thunderstorms every day during my stay there in Pontianak and there was no haze at all. ^^

As a matter of fact, the first thunderstorm hit me and my colleagues right at the airport, stranding us for about half an hour even though our taxi was parked less than 50 meters from where we were standing and waiting. ^^;

Looking at the completed shoulder missile hatches in the previous posting, the vibrant color of the armors' edges doesn't seem to match the gray parts. ^^;


The edges are shown to be in gray in the instruction manual.

I completely overlooked the need to paint the collar and neck area white when going through the part count in Part 3. ^^;

Moving on to refining the parts already painted in the previous posting and to work on new ones for HG 1/100 Gundam Heavyarms Custom. ^^


The border between the left and right thigh parts is painted black using normal marker to emphasize the gaps' appearance


Same treatment for the borders in front and behind the shin.

So much gray needed on so many parts
Continuing the work on HG 1/100 Gundam Heavyarms Custom after the previous posting. ^^

If Part 2 is the culmination of some of the fun little things I had planned for the kit all this while, then all the "grunt" painting and detailing work will start from here on. ^^;

As most of the parts molded in gray are for the gatling guns and shoulder missiles, you can imagine how little the color is designed to be on parts of the kit itself, hence the need for a quite a bit of gray paint to be applied. ^^;


Some of the major line details on the four leg parts are panel lined first using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).

Shiny hooks, shiny gatlings
Starting the work on HG 1/100 Gundam Heavyarms Custom after the introduction in the previous posting. ^^


Just three parts to focus on right away: the v-fin and two hook-like appendages on top the shoulder armors.


No fancy detailing needed for the parts according to the completed model's picture in the instruction manual, but they do need to be painted gold. ^^
Adding gold paint to my model kits, how can that not be the priority right from jump? XD

人在印尼
For work-related matters, I have the pleasure to travel to Indonesia again after my recent visit to the country in late September. ^^ However, my trip this time is to Pontianak, which is just right across the border of Sarawak. ^^

Despite the close geographical proximity, there's still one hour difference between Malaysia and Indonesia. As the flight only takes about 45 minutes, there's a feeling that I just went "back in time" when flying in from Kuching to Pontianak. ^^



Then again, that "extra time" would have to be "paid back" in my return trip. ^^;
