HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos Part 2

Iron weapons

Cutting into Part 3 of the review on S.I.C. Vol. 16 Kamen Rider Black RX & Kamen Rider Black with the first round of paint work on HG 1/144 Gundam Barbatos after the introduction on Wednesday. ^^

A rundown on the parts to be painted as shown in the Twitter post above:

The mace is going to be painted gun metal to better reflects its size and weight. ^^
For consistency in the color of the weapons, the katana's blade portion will be painted gun metal as well, even though silver popped up in my head as the immediate first choice. ^^;

The shield will be painted light gray.

The shield notwithstanding, my idea for the mace's and katana's paint work different but much simpler than what is shown in the instruction manual. ^^

Black for the calf and side skirt armor thrusters.
The top section of the latter needs to be painted red.

The two "toes" in front of the foot parts, which look sharp enough to be part of Gundam Barbatos's armament list are going to be painted gun metal like the mace and katana mentioned above.
There are two "missing" red panels on the heel parts.

Dark gray, the designated color for Gundam Barbatos's frame and mechanical components is needed for a large number of parts. ^^;

Besides dark gray, the outer edges of Form 4's shoulder armors need to be painted yellow as well.

For convenience, I'll be using the foil sticker included for the white top side of the backpack thruster, but since the sticker doesn't cover the edges, they would need to be painted (white).

Besides the pair on the V-fin, the sideburns pieces have blunt tip edges to be trimmed off so that the head can appear sharper.

Some of the parts are detailed using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) before the paint work.

Besides the mace and katana, the calf and side skirt armor thrusters have also been painted with Gaia Metallic Color No. 020 Gun Metal.
The glossy shininess of the paint would be great to distinguish these components from the rest of Gundam Barbatos's mecha components I think. ^^

The shoulder armors are painted using Mr. Color GX 4 Chiara Yellow Gloss.

Minor yellow paint spilled over the rear edge of the parts is wiped away using cotton swab soaked with arcylic thinner to provide a clean surface for the dark gray paint to be applied later.

The edges of the backpack thruster is painted white using White Surfacer from Mr. Hobby.

The shield is painted light gray using Mr. Color 11 Light Gull Gray Semi-Gloss.

Dark gray, the main missing color as mentioned earlier on was already applied to all the targeted parts this afternoon, but would be mentioned in the next posting together with some other work. ^^
