MG Zaku II F2 EFSF Ver. Part 5

New colors from new Gundam Markers

The last round of paint and panel line work on MG Zaku II F2 EFSF Ver. already. ^^

Molded on Runner I (see Part 1), the unique runner for this MG kit, the two hand armor parts for the extra hand units are annoyingly not in their intended color of light brown. ^^

Luckily, I have just the right bottle paint for these two parts. ^^

The paint used is Gaia Color Military Series No. 223 Interior Color. ^^

The result of the painted hand armors.

Pretty simple-looking parts for the head, so the work shouldn't be too difficult I suppose. ^^

Parts which require very minimal panel lining to be completed. ^^

The usual paint treatment for the mono-eye camera: silver on the rear face (from Zebra paint marker) and red in front (from normal permanent marker).

Painted the face vent (Zaku II's mouth XD) gray using Gundam Marker to make it appear as part of the head's mecha component.

The arc supposedly for the mono-eye camera to sit on and rotate around inside the head (fictitiously) is painted gray using Gundam Marker for the exact same reason as the face vent did just now.

Tiny panel lines are added when the paint has dried.

Nothing done to the three helmet's applique armor parts as I have zero intention on using them. ^^;

Painting the pilot figure will be the last part of the work on this kit. ^^
There's no standing figure to paint this time, making the work to be supposedly simpler, but the paint guide in the manual is not very clear. ^^;

I'll use the actual pilot's color scheme from the anime as my guide then. ^^
At least two characters were shown piloting this Zaku II at the beginning stage of "MS Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory". Between Kou Uraki and Chuck Keith, the latter has a clear shot of his full pilot suit (right image), so I'll use him as the paint guide for this kit. ^^

The green and olive green portions of the suit, plus the dark brown seat-belts are uncommon colors, but there are Gundam Marker sets that contain these three colors.
The first two colors can be found in the Zeon set, while dark brown can be found in the Weathering set.

The few paint markers selected for the task: apart from green (GM36 Zaku Dark Green) and brown (GM30 Rust Red) mentioned earlier on, red (GM35 Char Red) and fluorescent pink markers are also recruited for Keith's helmet.

The pilot figure is panel lined first to identify the separated segments of the suit.

Finding GM36 Zaku Dark Green to be too dark for the figure, another marker from the Zeon set - GM37 Zaku Light Green is used for the sleeves and knee pads instead.

The seat-belts are painted using GM30 Rust Red from the Weathering set.
The Weathering set markers are not the same as normal Gundam markers. The paint is a lot more "watery", but the color is still pretty good in covering the intended area. More time is needed for the paint to dry though, obviously.

The helmet is painted using GM35 Char Red and Gundam Marker Fluorescent Pink.

The boots (left) and rear portion of the helmet (right) are painted using normal black marker.

The face area is hand painted (using a toothpick ^^;) with Mr. Color 51 Flesh Semi Gloss.

The chest area is painted using normal metallic green marker for that fluorescent green-like opening in front of Keith's pilot suit. ^^;

To keep the entire paint work simple, only one shade of green is used on the figure. I treat the default gray color as the substitute color for the dark green portion. ^^; As a result of the entire paint work, the figure doesn't really look like Keith at all. ^^; Maybe painting his glasses on would make the connection more obvious, but that's a painting adventure I don't feel like taking now. ^^;

Anyway, the work on MG Zaku II F2 EFSF Ver. is now done. ^^ The panel line and paint work was extremely simple in my opinion, which is just natural and true to the characteristics of older MG kits. ^^

As usual, there'll be a bit of offset time between now and when I revisit all the parts again for the final assembly. ^^
