The even more laborious work on System Base 001 is up next, after the putty work in the previous posting. ^^
Larger chucks of hardened putty is been shaved off the pipes using a pen knife.
Huge amount of excessive putty removed from the parts, after the initial clean-up above. ^^
Rigorous, repetitive, not-very-fun sanding of all the pipes, using 400-grit sand paper, then 600-grit.
And a couple more rounds of sanding using 800-grit sand paper to smooth the pipes' surface.
The layer of wet toilet tissue under the parts helps to prevent the dust from going all over the place, but it's not enough to keep the parts entirely clean. ^^;
Dust accumulated on the parts are rinsed out.
The parts are left to dry for a while, before the first round of paint work is applied to it. ^^
Besides all the pipes, there are a couple other parts to be painted silver. ^^
The tiny screw-like details on the weapon mount racks are going to be painted gold.
All the fake hydraulic pipes are painted silver using Gaia Metallic Color No. 121 Star Bright Silver.
All the other targeted details are painted with the same paint as well. ^^
More paint work and detailing on the parts coming up in the next posting. ^^
