HG 1/144 00 Gundam & O Raiser Part 2

As long as it works

Starting to work on some parts of HG 1/144 00 Gundam with the most amount of painting needed.

The rear portion of the Twin Drive racks and thruster portion of the backpack are hand-painted in gray using Gaia Color 074 Neutral Gray IV

Rear face of the clear parts are painted with highlighter green.
A simple step but done first since the paint will require a way longer time than other markers to dry.

The clear part for GN Sword II's sensor (?) will require a bit of special treatment since it has to be in clear blue, and the middle section (its holder) is supposed to be gray.

Painted the sensor portion using permanent marker blue, then rub the paint away using Ammeltz Yoko Yoko analgestic liquid ^^

Stop rubbing the paint off when clear blue effect is achieved, and the result will be like this.

Painted the middle portion of the clear part in gray using Gundam Marker Gray.

Some work to be done for the V-fin and clear part on the forehead.

All protruding "toothbrush" safety extension on all the edges of the antennas are chipped off and sharpen using art knife.

Did the same thing for the V-fin on the chest.

Painted the rear side of the forehead clear part in red and the forehead middle section of the V-fin in silver using normal marker.

Painted the standing V-fin in yellow using Gundam Marker Yellow.

Test fitting to see the temporary result.

Not much silver inside the forehead can be spotted unfortunately. ^^; But the shiny red clear part turns out to be pretty good. ^^

Painted the chin in gray according to the designated color of 00 Raiser using Gundam Marker. Also painted the edges of the eyes in black to avoid any chance of exposing the clear part behind them when the parts are assembled.

Also panel-lined most of the parts for the arms in between working on the ones mentioned in this posting, but the work is pretty simple and regular so no special mentioning of them is needed.

Will be working on the body and legs of 00 Gundam in the next posting.

I can't colour the GN Condensers evenly with the green highlighter, even though I've found out that I've used the same one as yours T_T

The head seems to require the most detailed colouring IMHO. Otherwise other parts such as the arms and legs are (as you said) pretty simple to work with. Too bad about the silver part not working too well for the forehead; I've simply left my blank but colour the gem red, which looks pretty good I gotta admit ^^

Great idea with the GN Sword Sensor. I have learnt quite a bit from this post. Thanks a lot! XD

Damn myself, I didn't realise can use highlighter on clear parts.

Thanks a lot!

Using highlighter on the sensor parts is very difficult, I even have to resort to painting the sensors with clear (transparent) paint first before I use the highlighter on them when they dry.
