Gundam Construction Scene Part 2

Framework building [骨格組み立て]

Taking a short break from the ongoing review on ZCGirl 1/6 Sniper Muriel Black Ver. to look at the second pack from the Gundam Construction Scene (MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM ガンダム大地に建つ) gashapon set, after opening its review series last month. ^^

Front view of the pack.

Preview of the mini diorama, and the components from this pack that will be used on the statue.
The designated color for this pack is dark gray.

Very simple design on all sides of the box.

Preview of the whole set, and the Gundam statue on the back of the box.

Box open.

Pack number on the side flap.

Content.

Front, and rear views of the plastic bag containing the figure parts.

The instruction sheet included is exactly the same as that found in the first set.

The box is flattened, with its flaps cut off for easier storage.

All the parts removed from the plastic bag shown earlier on.

Parts for the left thigh, and left foot on the Gundam status.

With just two parts for each armor component, assembling the thigh, and foot is very simple. ^^

Closeups on the left thigh's details.
The knee section on the front part isn't painted. ^^;

The top edges of the red portion aren't painted on the left foot, but the overall look is still pretty good.

The letter "L" can be seen molded inside either foot part, which is a helpful marker in the Gundam statue's assembly in the future. ^^
There's no side indicator of any sort inside the thigh parts though. Perhaps the part design is the same for both thighs.

Hip and leg frame parts.

The hip frame part.

The leg frames.

Different designs for the top and bottom connectors on the leg frames.

Two decorative structure parts: one container cabin (?), and a block of stacked containers.

Simple, rigid molded line details on the parts.

A standing platform for one of the micro figurines.

Front view of the runner that holds the human figurines.

Rear view of the runner.

The figurines are removed from the runner.

The bottom of the figurines' bases are labelled with their pack number using a black marker. ^^

Comparison between some of the parts and a 10-cent coin to show off their tiny size better.

The display base.

As the completed Gundam status will also stand on the same display base, it's much larger, and more colorful as compared to that of the first pack, as well as the rest of this gashapon set. ^^

Closeups on the details.

The pedestal for the beam saber can be detached.

Emblem of Gunpla 30th Anniversary can be seen clearly in front of the pedestal.

Rear view of the base.

Besides the usual company and copyright info, a large "2" is molded on the underside.

Size of the base: 8cm wide, about 8.5cm deep.

Getting all the parts ready to form the mini diorama. ^^

The two decorative structures are pegged to the rear corners on top the display base.

The three frame parts' assembly is a bit tricky as identifying their connector ports can be confusing. ^^;

(Left) For a start: identifying the larger groin block is representing the front side of the statue, and the center port is meant to be facing upward to connect to the statue's waist.
(Right) With the hip frame's different sides figured out, the two leg frames can be distinguished based on their connector ports beneath the former.

The square blocks connect to the hip, while the tabs beneath the rounded bases connect to the display base.

Confirmation of the leg frames' tabs with the ports beneath the hip frame.

The lower body's frame is done. ^^

The bottom tabs are pegged into their designated ports on top the base.

The left thigh, left foot, the two figurines, and the mini display platform are arranged on top the base to complete the diorama. ^^

Closeups on the details:

Just in terms of appearance, the large display base, with its special pedestal for the statue's beam saber is much more outstanding than the lower body's skeletal frame I suppose. ^^ As an important part of the statue's display, the display base is technically the first completed component to be seen. It also serves the purpose of indicating how large the entire diorama for the statue is going to be, but the same can be said about the skeletal frame as well. ^^ The frame is a pivotal part of the statue's construction - it's one of the earliest, if not the earliest component to be built when the statue's construction began in April 2010 for the RG 1/1 Gundam Project, so in realizing this component, this particular pack has a very significant feel to it in this gashapon set. ^^

The completed leg frames also serve as a rough height indicator for the Gundam statue, and it's quite short. XD

Comparison with the the first set:

Comparison with BB Senshi Gundam RX-78-2, which has been designated as the "ambassidor" to represent Gundam RX-78-2 in all individual packs' reviews from this gashapon set. XD

Will be opening another box from this gashapon set in the future, but not so soon. ^^
