Another round of detailing and paint work on High Grade 1/144 scale Build Strike Gundam Full Package after the previous posting. ^^
Minor detailing on the left and right arm parts that require no paint work using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).
The interior of the white hand armor is painted gray using Gundam Marker to establish it as part of the hand not armor.
Like this. ^^
Panel lining for the painted forearm parts.
Minor panel lining for the waist and beam saber parts that require no paint work.
The vents on the groin piece and tight corners behind the front skirt armor are detailed using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).
Was pondering whether the interior of the rear skirt armor should be painted to give the area a sense of depth or not, and what color to be used (black/gray). ^^;
In the end, I decided to go ahead with painting the targeted area.
Gundam Marker Black is used for convenience - there will be no need to panel line some of the "ambiguous" molded details in the painted area anymore after the black paint dries later. ^^;
To match the rear skirt armor, the interior of the front skirt armor is also painted using Gundam Marker Black, which renders the panel lining done earlier on to be unnecessary. ^^;
Excess black paint spilled over the edge of the parts is scratched away using a knife.
Test fitting the painted parts to see how the waist would turn out when assembled. ^^
(Left) Excess red paint on the thrusters behind the rear skirt armor (painted in Part 2) is scratched away using a knife.
(Right) Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) is used to panel line all the tight spots and molded line details on the armor part.
The vents on top the front skirt armor not covered by the Tamiya panel liner solution as well as the interior of the rear thrusters are painted using normal panel liner.
The rest of the molded details are done using normal panel liner.
As with most other High Grade kits, the two halves of the front skirt armor are separated in the middle - there's a tiny bit of excess gate that can be nipped off for the parts to be divided.
For the side skirt armors, excess red paint behind the parts (painted in Part 2) is rubbed away using cotton swab soaked with thinner.
Since their rear side isn't sunken, I decided not to paint them black. ^^ I'm also concerned that any spilled over black paint would affect the red paint work on the front edges.
Molded details in front of the parts are detailed using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).
The panel lined areas on the abdomen parts may be exposed when the body of the completed model is bent.
The targeted areas are painted using Mr. Gundam Color UG09 MS Gray Zeon Semi Gloss.
The edges of the painted areas are re-panel lined once the gray paint has dried.
Test fitting the painted parts to see how the abdomen would turn out when bent. ^^
(Left) Excess red paint spilled over the edges of the thrusters behind body part is scratched away using a knife. The interior of the thruster is painted black using a normal marker.
(Right) Minor panel lining for the body parts, including a few others not shown here.
Just a few more components, mainly from the Build Booster to go before the work on this HG kit is complete. All of that will be covered in the next posting. ^^
