Sunday Movie Theater: The God of Cookery 食神 (1996)

The second movie review to be featured on my blog this month, after "Charlie's Farm" (2014) in the inaugural "Monday Home Video" segment last week, but since it's Sunday today, you know this will be a visit to the Sunday Movie Theater instead, the first visit in 2016 at that. ^^

And since it's getting close to Chinese New Year, I picked a Cantonese movie for this posting, and unlike "Rouge" (胭脂扣, 1988), it's all good to be watched during this festive season. ^^

HG Build Custom GP Base Part 2

Starting to work on HG Build Custom GP Base after the introduction in the previous posting, with the focus being the information card for the base's display screen. ^^

As mentioned in the previous posting, the information card template included inside the instruction manual is only useful if you're alright with having only a blank screen for all the kits to be displayed with the GP Base, and you are willing to cut out that portion of the manual in the first place. Personally, I prefer to have different screens that can represent the Gunplas on display accurately, not just in terms of the information of the kits, but with display elements as seen in the anime as well. ^^

For that matter, handwriting on the information card cut out from the instruction manual was never one of the options when I was pondering on what to do with this kit. ^^;

Monday Home Video: Charlie's Farm (2014)

A bad start to a new series. Wait, what?
Starting up a new posting series this year. ^^

The idea of this new series came from a past conversation I had with my friends on some of movies we watched and enjoyed. After listing many good movies (the ones that I would definitely recommend in Sunday Movie Theater), plus perhaps two or three cups of coffee too many, we started talking about some of the mediocre movies that we actually liked. ^^ We were joking and laughing at how bad those movies are, but we watched them and did genuinely enjoyed ourselves when doing so. ^^ As such, I think it's my duty to the human race to make mention of those movies through this segment. XD

Good movies, watch them in a movie theater when you are free on a weekend - Sunday Movie Theater; bad movies, watch them at home during the weekdays so that if you get bored to sleep by them, you're safely in your own house, hence "Monday Home Video" is set as the segment's title. XD

At the moment, I'm planning to have one posting each from Sunday Movie Theater and Monday Home Video each month - for balance between good and not-so-good movies. XD However, if having two movie-related postings each month becomes too much for the blog, posting just one from either series each month is an option as well.

Having introduce the idea behind this new posting series, it's time to actually talk about the movie that has the "honor" of being the first to be featured in Monday Home Video. XD

HG Build Custom GP Base Part 1

Can't have HG Build Strike Gundam without this accessory

With the completion of the work on HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package in the previous posting, this accessory is a natural follow-up to that kit due to its in-universe connection. As a matter of fact, the increased price of the overall kit notwithstanding, I think it wouldn't be out of place if it was included with HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package and subsequently offered as a separate kit. ^^

Saving the hardest for last
The last round of work on High Grade 1/144 scale Build Strike Gundam Full Package after the previous posting. ^^


Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) is used to panel line the delicate molded details of the Build Booster and shoulder vents.


Excess panel liner solution inside the vents is carefully rubbed away using cotton swab soaked with thinner.
Additional detailing is done using normal panel liner.

HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package Part 5

The black indecision
Another round of detailing and paint work on High Grade 1/144 scale Build Strike Gundam Full Package after the previous posting. ^^


Minor detailing on the left and right arm parts that require no paint work using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).

HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package Part 4

Bling bling in a long while
Done with the major paint work on High Grade 1/144 scale Build Strike Gundam Full Package in the previous posting, it's time to move on to some of the more delicate detailing work. ^^


Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) is used on the beam rifle and beam gun parts.


With excessive panel liner solution rubbed away using cotton swab soaked with thinner, and with additional line details added the usual way. ^^

HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package Part 3

The gray indecision
Commencing major paint work on selected parts from High Grade 1/144 scale Build Strike Gundam Full Package that were identified in the previous posting. ^^


All the parts that require gray paint.
As usual, the parts are panel lined first before the paint work - some via panel liner, some with Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) while some require a combination of both tools. ^^;

It's that moment of the year again, so let me repeat what I said last year ^^
Like the one I did last year, the one before that, the one before that one and the other one before that one too, this posting marks the moment this blog turns six, and is entering its seventh year of existence. ^^

Not much that I can or need to preview about what's coming up on the blog this year. My intention of keeping everything simple will pretty much guarantee that the blog will remain the same as it was last year, and the previous year, and the years before that too. ^^ Like I said all the time, hobby is fun, so is blogging, and I would like to keep it that way. ^^

Had dinner with a group of colleagues from my company on the Sarawak River Cruise this evening. ^^



Despite seeing it in operation since my secondary school days, this was the first time I took the cruise and dined on it. ^^

HG 1/144 Build Strike Gundam Full Package Part 2

MS Gundam Assault Kingdom 2 Part 4

Gundam Mk-II (Part 1)
A "small" start to this year's review on my blog, with the second figure from MS Gundam Assault Kingdom shokugan set after starting the series with Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] in early November last year. ^^


Gundam Mk-II is a rather "popular" entry in this shokugan series it seems. After making its debut in this set, the black Titans' version appended with a Vulcan Pod came out in Set 6, and this A.E.U.G. version was included again in Set 9. ^^ Coupled with the release of both versions under the HGUC Revive Gunpla labels, there was certainly no lack of merchandise of this Gundam last year. ^^
