More action poses of MG Johnny Ridden's Customized High Mobility Type Zaku II Ver. 2.0 after the previous posting. ^^
Mimicking the box art action pose.
Without any handheld weapon equipped, the prolonged thorns on the left shoulder armor can serve as the last resort to ram through enemy MSs. ^^
Mentioned in the very first posting about how I looked at this Zaku II being "redder" than the Red Comet, Char Aznable's version of Zaku II. So a side-by-side comparison would be in place I believe. ^^
A single shade of crimson red on Johnny Ridden's unit versus ...
... Char's pink-maroon-bright red combo. ^^
The weapons are the same (except the unique 360mm Giant Baz that is only for Johnny Ridden's unit obviously), but the ones for Char's unit are molded in lighter shade of gray.
It might be a bit hard to associate Char's Zaku II with his nickname of "the Red Comet" if you're unaware of the character's history, but "the Crimson Lightning" (真紅の稲妻) for Johnny Ridden is a total match, especially with this customized High Mobility Type Zaku II of his. It's really red, and it's supposed to be really fast. ^^
On a separate note, it has been quite a few years in between the completion of MG Char's Zaku II Ver. 2.0 shown in the images above and this just completed Johnny Ridden's unit. Over the years, I've gained more tools and paints that allow me to get the colors and some additional details I want on my model kits more conveniently. Take the thrusters of the two kits for example, the ones for Johnny Ridden's unit were hand-painted using bottle paint, done with different layers too; ^^ the ones for Char's unit were done using normal marker. The effect from the latter might not look as bright and nice as the one done using paint, but I can look back and laugh at the improvisation, and still remember it as a very enjoyable part of the entire build experience. ^^
Not surprisingly for me, some of the methods that worked well back in the "old days" (XD) were carried forward to this kit, including the silver and red marker treatment for the mono-eye camera and targeting scopes, as well as the main panel lining method.
Borrowing the crane from Char's Zaku II to display the standing figure of Johnny Ridden. ^^
The third kit from the four MGs I worked on since May has been completed. Only Force Impulse Gundam is pending for assembly now. ^^

Truly a beautiful kit, a high mobility type Zaku. I wonder if they'll look fiercer if the lens of the mono-eye is omitted.
