Gashapon Sunrise Imagination Figure Vol 3 Part 1

Artistic fixed figues

A review series on another one of the few sets of gashapon I snatched back from Singapore last July.

Overall, in terms of creativity, none of the other ones I bought could beat Gunsou Gattai Kerobot V. XD However, in terms of aesthetics, this set has to be most unique one among them all: Sunrise Imagination Figure Vol 3.

Released back in 2003 (info from the item's paper band), this is the third installment of a gashapon series that lasted till Vol. 4 if not mistaken. Vol. 4's items were all Gundam related, but Vol. 3 and the first two releases contained design related to mecha anime other than Gundam, which were of course from Sunrise as the title of the product implies. Given that there are usually very few gashapon sets dedicated to old anime series (until some point when they are revived, or when they are featured in another popular media like games), it's definite great to see them getting released through this series. Too bad it didn't last very long.

Not much I can say about the history of this gashapon series because they were released during the time when I wasn't too big into anything other than Gunplas, ^^; but it's definitely the design that attracted me to make the purchase for this set in Singapore last year.

All five types in this set, which are all fixed display figures. At 300 Yen each, this is considered a pretty high priced set. I got it at a bargain price for the entire set, which was another reason I made the purchase in the first place. Then again, for its original Yen price, I think it's well justified looking at each figure's size, design and details. Of course you will find out more about that in this review series. ^^

All five sets ...

... but six item paper bands included instead.
One of them was the "cover" for the entire set.

Preview of all the five types shown on the paper band.

Product info behind the paper band.

Additional piece of note included with each paper band

Going through the five types of this gashapon set one by one like what I did for Gunsou Gattai Kerobot V, starting with this one:

[Kamille Bidan] - from "MS Zeta Gundam".

All the parts that need a bit of assembly.

Very fine details of the linear seat cockpit.

I used to imagine some of the details when I was painting the ones on my Master Grade models. ^^

The figure of Kamille Bidan
The hairstyle is unmistakable ^^

The pose is exactly like that of the 1/100 pilot figures in MG kits. ^^

Comes with a helmeted option head unit.

Very nice near-clear green type of paint for the visor.

Attaching Kamille to the pilot seat.
It's a bit hard to adjust the handles to let the Kamille's hands rest on them properly. ^^;

With the helmeted-type head part

The design really reminds me of the scene with Kamille in the opening of "MS Zeta Gundam".

The video shown is not the original OP from Japan, but when the anime was aired in America I think.
Video clip is from Youtube. Follow this link to the website if you can't see anything.

With MG Zeta Gundam Ver. 2.0 for a closer resemblance of that imagination. ^^

As you can see, it's a pretty good complimentary item to be displayed alongside MG Zeta Gundam Ver. 2.0, or Gundam Mk. II as well. ^^

Showcasing Amuro and Char in the next posting. ^^

Definitely my favorite from this set. If I were to choose only 1 gashapon from that set, it would be that Kamille figure. I'd display it with the helmet on because the painted face looks like chewing gum
