Garo Kiwami Damashii Dan Part 4 [Final]

The problem with posing a spear

More action poses of Garo Kiwami Damashii Dan after the previous posting. ^^

The much improved articulation design as mentioned in the previous posting really helps to give Dan a lot of maneuverability with his spear. It's a lot easier posing Dan wielding the spear with both hands as the shoulder armors move to not get in the way of the arms, and the upper arms move as well to support the hand in grabbing the pole. In comparison, Garo would not be able to do as well, and all action poses possible with the spear would have finished in just one posting. ^^;

Then again, a spear is not exactly a very flexible weapon for an action figure to pose with. The overall length of the weapon is an issue for it to fit into a single image with the figure in most angles, and wielding it with two hands is just about the only way to make it good-looking. ^^; I struggled a bit on the "spear issue" with Revoltech Yamaguchi Sengoku Basara Sanada Yukimura (technically he carries two tridents not spear). ^^; Even though he's a lot more posable and has more options with his weapons, it wasn't really easy to adjust good-looking poses with the tridents and to allow everything to appear in one picture at the same time. ^^;

In that sense, Dan is actually quite a posable figure with his spear, capable of a wide range of action. Maybe due to his size, it's much easier getting the spear into single shots, still, I like his much improved articulation design that enables all those poses. ^^

Since he was mentioned throughout this review series, here's Dan with Garo:

And just for the fun of it, a comparison with Transformers Prime's Legion Class Cyberverse Arcee:

A very nice little action figure this is. The details are great, and the articulation design is very good for its size as well. It would have been so much nicer if all the improvements seen on Dan were also implemented for Garo in the first place to give it a much more impressive outcome. ^^; Since that's obviously not possible, I'm glad that at least Dan didn't conform to the same level of articulation as Garo, and that really makes him stand out well between the two.
