From Transformers to something Gundam-related for this posting. ^^
Reviewing another Gundam gashapon this time, of the very recently featured Lacus Clyne no less, but is actually from a totally different series with a completely different pose. ^^ This is the version from MS Gundam Seed Destiny EF Collection 3, the same gashapon series which also included Meer Campbell reviewed in mid June. I got the two together anyway. ^^
As opposed to all the previously reviewed gashapon figurines of Lacus, this is the version that features a more focused and serious-looking expression, as you will find later. ^^ Also, option parts are included to display the figurine in two different forms.
Since the introduction of this gashapon series was already mentioned in the review of Meer Campbell, I'll just skip all that and jump into the content right away. ^^
A little bit of assembly required, as the figurine is being separated into a few parts.
An instruction sheet is included to show how to attach the display stand and clip to the figurine, as well as the configuration between Lacus's costumes.
Just like Meer Campbell, another two characters featured in this gashapon series can be displayed with Lacus to form a team-up.
Meer is shown with Shinn and Heine; Lacus is with Kira and Athrun.
For some unknown reason, I received two sets of display stand and clip in this package. ^^
Attaching Lacus's boots to the display stand is necessary to prevent her from falling on her back. The display stand and clip are not exactly compulsory in supporting her, but ...
... the figurine's backward tilt is too obviously awful without the stand. ^^;
As it turns out, unlike Meer Campbell, the display stand is needed to realize the figurine's intended pose. ^^;
More closeups on the figurine:
As mentioned earlier on, this gashapon figurine comes with option parts to change her costume. The gimmick allows Lacus to be displayed in just her short dress, without the large cape, which isn't a super dramatic gimmick really, although it's definitely a nice bonus as compared to Meer or even Lacus from MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 3 gashapon set who have no option part at all. ^^;
The two option arm parts.
(Left) Parts that need to be removed from the figurine.
(Right) The upper body is slide out from the cape.
The "reassembled" figurine of Lacus in a different costume. ^^
Closeups on the details:
Without her cape, the figurine's actual small size becomes obvious to see. At the same time, a lot of weight is taken off the figurine, which allows it to stand a lot easier than before. ^^
While its design on this figurine is nice-looking, with bright contrasting color scheme and sculpt details, the actual design of Lacus's short dress is quite a mystery to me. In the anime series, be it "Gundam SEED" or its successor, when everyone was shown wearing full military uniforms in the final battles, Lacus got to show off her special dress. ^^ Was that her "uniform" as the captain of Eternal? or was it a special dress that could help her to invoke the SEED ability? XD I didn't really bother about that when I watched the show, nor did I mind all the named characters' apparent ignorance about the need of wearing space suits in space combat the entire show, unless he or she is a Mobile Suit pilot. ^^;
"Normal Suits? Never heard of that before. " XD
Comparison with some of the "other versions" of Lacus in my collection, real and "fake" ones: ^^
With Meer from the same gashapon series.
With Lacus(es) from MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 3 and 7. ^^
Among the three, the version in a lying position from MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 3 has the most unique design, for obvious reason. ^^ The first gashapon of Lacus introduced on this blog, the one from MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 7 is very nice, but her rather simplistic dress makes me rank her below this particular version in terms of overall design and details. ^^
